Morse is responsible for driving client revenue growth through information products sold via the online sales channels that ECNext creates, hosts, and manages for its clients. He will also guide the ongoing evolution and improvement of ECNext’s online marketing practices and solutions. Morse will work directly with ECNext’s clients helping them drive business growth by testing, measuring and improving their e-commerce sites and Web marketing programs. This will include focusing on site usability factors, search engine marketing programs, email and direct marketing campaigns and product pricing and packaging alternatives.
Morse brings 13 years of experience in using quantitative methods to improve online sales, answer questions, and improve business processes in both commercial and academic settings. His experience spans a wide range of industries and companies, including Amazon.com, Bank One, General Electric, General Motors, and Weyerhaeuser.
He was previously responsible for upfront design and backend analysis of online marketing programs for Amazon.com and for Bank One. His work included understanding buyer behavior and site utilization, testing improvements to search algorithms and results, page structure and price points; and launching and measuring email, direct mail, telephone, and advertising campaigns.
“We are committed to continuing and extending our leadership in selling information-based products via online channels,” said Chris Skudder, ECNext chief executive officer. “We already do a great deal of online marketing and find it to be consistently very profitable for our publisher clients. Information buyers obviously find the online environment well suited to their needs as well. Closely integrating marketing services with our well-developed platform significantly boosts the profitability of our publisher clients’ investments in online selling. Peter’s experience makes him exceptionally well prepared to grow our clients’ revenue and continue our leadership in this field.”
“ECNext is doing some very effective and innovative things already,” Morse said. “Their clients see revenues grow 50-80% year over year. ECNext is obviously committed to continue investing in their clients’ successes. I’m excited about joining this team and contributing to that success. There is a great deal of opportunity in this arena.”
“The ECNext solution has performed in the real world for seven years now,” said Skudder. “We’ve learned a lot over those years and have incorporated much of that learning into the ECNext solution platform and infrastructure.”
“Our experience shows that services and platforms interact with each other and perform best when managed together in response to an accurate understanding of end-buyer needs, wants, and behaviors,” continued Skudder. “To achieve the best revenue performance for our publishers, we must continue to push the envelope in all areas – online marketing, end-user buyer behavior, and in the technology. Much of this work is so specialized that it’s difficult for publishers to keep up with the pace of change in the marketplace.”
Morse earned a Bachelors degree in Economics and Math from Saint Olaf College, and earned his Master’s and Ph.D. in Statistics from Iowa State University.
